NEW INTERIOR RENOVATION GRANTS ADMINISTERED BY UWI
A new program, called the Interior Renovation Grant, is now available to business owners (whether property owners or tenants) in the Uptown Wadesboro business district. Eligible business owners, whether the business is retail, professional or service, may apply for a grant to fund improvements to the interior of their business property in Uptown Wadesboro. The purpose of this grant is to encourage improvement of the appearance and quality of the Uptown area. Projects making the most visible contribution to the Uptown district will receive top priority as long as all guidelines are met.
Applications are available at the UWI offices at the Chamber of Commerce at 107 E. Wade Street, Wadesboro, NC. The number of grants funded per year is dependent upon the availability of funds. Please check with Uptown Wadesboro, Inc. to determine what interior improvements are eligible. The maximum grant will be $500 if your project is eligible, meets all guidelines and is approved by the UWI Board of Directors. Applications must be approved before work is started for a project to be eligible. NEW ANSON COUNTY BASEBALL CAPS
Anson County baseball caps are now available! Let everyone know you’re from Anson County by wearing your Discover Anson cap. The new hats will be on sale at People Fest at the UWI booth in front of the Chamber offices on Sat. Oct. 11, 2008. The logo for Anson County was introduced a couple of years ago by the Anson County Tourism Development Authority and is being used by many local organizations in marketing materials and online to brand our county. Sale price at People Fest will be $10 per hat (regular price will be $12).
UPDATE ON THE ANSONIA THEATRE RENOVATION
If you’ve been by the Ansonia Theatre within the last week or so, you’ll notice some exciting and dramatic changes to the front of the building. The marquee has been sandblasted and painted with a first coat to prevent rust from forming while they continue work on the rest of the project. An upcoming part of the project will be rewiring the marquee and sign for lighting. According to Denise Beachum, President of the Anson County Arts Council, the organization handling the renovation of the historic theatre, the contractor is in the process of restoring the original windows at the top of the front of the building. The contractor will also soon be replacing some of the brick on the façade of the Theatre. Other UWI projects
UWI is now taking orders for personalized brick pavers to commemorate a loved one or honor a special friend or family. Under the Brick Paver Program, bricks will be placed on the sidewalks of Uptown Wadesboro. The Façade Grant program continues to be available for qualifying businesses wishing to improve the façade of their building in Uptown Wadesboro.
