Uptown Wadesboro, Inc. (UWI) works on a number of fundraising projects each year. Some of UWI's current projects are described below.

Town Square Information Kiosk in Wadesboro NC
INFORMATION KIOSK INSTALLED AT THE TOWN SQUARE IN UPTOWN WADESBORO
An information kiosk at the Town Square (northwest corner of Greene and Wade Streets in Uptown Wadesboro) was a joint project by Uptown Wadesboro, Inc. and the Town of Wadesboro. The kiosk displays community-related announcements (for example, fund-raising BBQ’s and luncheons by local non-profit groups and churches).
UWI developed this project at the invitation of the Town Manager, John Witherspoon, and received permission to use the corner from Allen Lyon, owner of the property. Funding for this project was provided by the Town of Wadesboro. David Rice of the Town Public Works Department constructed the sign working from a design by Merrie Datin.
Guidelines for use of the new kiosk are set by the Town. Any questions regarding the use of the kiosk should be directed to the Town offices.
Other Ongoing UWI Projects
Renovation Grants - One of UWI's most important contributions to the community are the renovation grants available to Uptown Wadesboro business owners. Two programs are available - the Facade Grant program and the Interior Renovation Grant Program. The programs provide incentive grants to business property owners or tenants in the Uptown Wadesboro Business District to help with the costs of making exterior and interior improvements to their properties. Applications are available at the UWI offices at the Chamber of Commerce offices at 107 E. Wade Street. Christmas Home Tour - Tour several of Wadesboro's beautiful or historic homes decorated for the holidays.
Commemorative Garden Benches - Metal benches placed throughout the Uptown Wadesboro area can be purchased with a commemorative placque.

Brick Paver Program - Laser-engraved commemorative bricks can be purchased to honor family members, friends or to commemorate a loved one. Other examples of commemorative bricks include salutes to businesses, churches or associations. The bricks will be installed on the brick sidewalks of Uptown Wadesboro.
In March 2007, the latest group of brick pavers was installed by the Town of Wadesboro on the sidewalks of Uptown Wadesboro.

Tortoise & Hair 5K and 1 Mile Walk/Run in Uptown Wadesboro
Uptown Wadesboro, Inc. has teamed up with the National Alopecia Areata Foundation to bring the Tortoise & Hair 5K and 1 Mile Walk/Run to Uptown Wadesboro. This race is organized not only to show the beauty and business district of Uptown Wadesboro but, more importantly, to raise funds and create awareness for Alopecia Areata (an autoimmune disease that causes hair loss). The first ever Tortoise & Hair 5K on Sat. Oct. 5, 2010 was a great success with 140 people signing up for the event.
Garden Planters in Uptown Wadesboro
The flower pots on the sidewalks of Uptown Wadesboro are being planted and maintained in a joint community project by UWI and the Wadesboro Garden Club.

The logo embroidered on the cap was developed by the Anson County Tourist Development Authority and is used in branding and promoting Anson County. This is a fundraising project for UWI and all proceeds go to funding Uptown Wadesboro, Inc.'s community projects.

This billboard was installed on Hwy 74 (eastbound near the Anson County Schools bus garage) promoting shopping, dining and antiques in Uptown Wadesboro in the summer of 2010. A project of Uptown Wadesboro, Inc., the signage was paid for by participating merchants and the Town of Wadesboro.
